COURSES OFFERED

SSI Instructor courses are organized from the Jadini Beach Hotel dive base. Due to the fact that SSI Regional Headquarters is only a few steps down the road, certificates can be presented to all SSI course partakers on the spot.

Discover Scuba Diving
A short course involving one theory lesson, one pool lesson and a dive in the sea, to get a taste of what it is all about.

Passport Diver
This is a perfect course for those who only have a few days. It involves two theory lessons, 2 pool lessons, two dives and your passport logbook and diploma.

Open Water Diver
This is a comprehensive beginners course involving 5 theory lessons, 5 pool lessons, 4 open water dives and a snorkel dive. At the end a test is taken and if passed the Open Water Diver licence is awarded, with this licence one may dive worldwide without direct instructor supervision.

Speciality Diver
Discover new exciting areas of diving with our specialty diver program. Two theory lessons, a pool lesson and two open water dives are the training requirements to fulfill a specialty course. You have the choice of eight exciting programs including night diver, deep diver, wreck diver and underwater navigator.

Advanced Open Water Diver
A combination of any four specialties and a total of 24 logged dives earns one the distinction of being an advanced diver.

CPR / Medic First Aid
This course gives one an overview of what to do when one is confronted with most types of emergency medical situations. One does not have to be a diver to participate in this course, but it is a prerequisite of the diver stress and rescue course.

Diver Stress and Rescue
An intensive course involving two theory lessons, two pool lessons and two open water dives in which candidates learn a great deal about perceiving stress in others and how to deal with it once recognized. This course will greatly enhance a divers confidence and makes our sport much safer.

Dive Control Specialist
The first step on the professionals ladder. the dive con is able to look after other divers and to help an instructor while he teaches students. This is a very thorough and demanding course which helps one move smoothly and swiftly into the instructor course.

NITROX DIVING

Enriched Air Nitrox Diving for that little bit extra.

Nitrox is basically a gas mixture of air enriched with oxygen, whose primary benefits are a lower risk of decompression sickness, less likelihood of nitrogen narcosis, less residual nitrogen in the body after a dive and a lessening of general post dive fatigue.

Diving the Crab opened the first Nitrox centre in East Africa in 1995 with 12 sets of specialised Nitrox equipment and a filling station. Today we are able to offer SSI Nitrox training and diving from beginner to instructor levels at all our bases with 6 fully trained Nitrox instructors.

If you already have a Nitrox licence, we offer organised dive trips. Our reefs around Diani seem to be purposely structured for Nitrox diving, with its medium depth reefs teeming with an over abundance of life.
