INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Sea Adventures Ltd., sport fishing at its best in the famous Pemba Channel, one of Africa's premier marlin destination. Sea Adventures offers deep-sea fishing charters into the Pemba Channel plus Pemba Island Safaris, 4-8 day safaris to Pemba Island where some of the best fishing in Africa might be found.

All but one of the African records for striped marlin were taken from the Pemba Channel, many from our boats .

For that holiday of a lifetime, a real "get away from it all" experience, join us on a fishing safari to the beautiful and unspoilt, exotic tropical island of Pemba. There are no fewer than SIX varieties of billfish in the PEMBA CHANNEL and the possibilities of a grand slam are very real. Apart from billfish there are huge sharks (Mako, Tiger, Hammerhead to name but a few), exciting tuna fishing, large wahoo, narrow-barred mackerel, barracuda, World record size giant trevally plus many others. Broadbill swordfish abound in the Pemba Channel. Kenya is becoming the premier destination in the World for broadbill, particularly for light tackle and fly fishing enthusiasts.

Come fishing with Pat and Simon Hemphill, World-renowned skippers who between them have more than 60 years experience in these waters. Since 1992 skippers, Pat & Simon have each taken more marlin than any other skipper in East Africa. Fish aboard one of our top class sportfishing boats.

Sea Adventures is based at Shimoni on Kenya’s South Coast; Shimoni is situated on Kenya's south coast, some 80 km. from Mombasa and 50 km. south of Diani Beach with its many large tourist hotels. Shimoni is a small village set on the shores of a beautiful natural harbour and is one of the few places on the East Coast of Africa where the sun rises and sets over water.

If you are an experienced deep-sea angler, a salmon fishermen, fly fisherman, or a complete novice who would like to experience big game fishing then Sea Adventures has what you are looking for.

Are you tired of having to fight the crew for your rod? Then you need worry no more because we fish by the International Game Fish Association Rules. Sea Adventures has a tag & release policy and consistently releases more than 90% of all billfish. First timers have caught many big fish over the years with expert tuition and advice. Children over the age of 8 yr. are welcome and this could be a good time to introduce your son or daughter to fishing. Simon's son and daughter caught their first marlin at the age of 10 yr. and 11 yr., respectively.

THE BOATS

All our boats are comfortable, spacious, immaculately maintained and manned by professional crews.

BROADBILL
A 46-ft. custom-built sport fisher powered by twin Ford Sabre 210 hp. turbo diesels. Skippered by Pat Hemphill who has been fishing the Pemba Channel waters since 1963. Pat is also co-author of the book, 'Crash Strike' along with Anthony Cullen. Pat has extensive experience of cruising the East African coast from Kiunga in Northern Kenya to Mtwara in SouthernTanzania, and even further south to Cape Town, South Africa. Between Pat and 'Broadbill' they are responsible for many of Kenya's big fish plus many Kenya and All Africa records.

Broadbill can carry up to 4 guests on safari to Pemba Island with sleeping facilities for 2 in the fore cabin and in the saloon the dinette folds down to form a double bed. There is a marine toilet on board and a safari shower that is set up on deck in the evening. KAMARA II
A 42-ft Bill Edward's built by Robert Newell in Gordon's Bay, South Africa. She was launched in late November 2001 and joined our fleet in April 2002. She is an amazing sea boat designed for the very rough conditions off Cape Town. Her twin Caterpillar 350 hp motors give her a top speed of 23 knots and this together with her large fuel capacity of up to 3,000 lt. give her a range in excess of 500 miles or 10 days fishing. She has a wide beam, a huge comfortable cockpit with plenty of shade and high gunnels for added crew and customer peace of mind. She has a large saloon with teak dinette, couch and a very practical galley that will be most useful on safari. Below decks she has a v-berth up forward with separate toilet and shower cabins. For those of you who are very tall and always banging your head on boats you shouldn't need to worry about that on Kamara II. Her builder, Robert is 6 ft 6 in and didn't like banging his head!

Kamara II can easily sleep up to 4 persons and is ideal for extended fishing cruises and for tournaments anywhere in East Africa. She also has 33-ft Lee's outriggers, which give her an awesome spread. Dr. Simon Hemphill, a fisheries biologist by training, skippers her along with his very professional crew. Simon has been fishing since he was old enough to hold a fishing rod, took his first charter out at the age of 14 yr., and has been full time charter fishing in the Pemba Channel since July 1981. He has cruised the East African coast from the North Kenya Banks to Mtwara in Southern Tanzania and beyond to Cape Town, South Africa. Simon received the Captain's Award from The Billfish Foundation for the most striped marlin tagged in the Indian Ocean during 2002.
Kamara II excelled in her first season by catching 3 times more marlin than any other boat on the Kenya coast including 25 striped marlin and 7 black marlin, all tagged and released. Her very first billfish was the very rare shortbill spearfish, a new Kenya and All Africa record on 15-kg line caught by Dion Woodborne in August 2002.

Skippered by Dr. Simon Hemphill, or by Hassan a very experienced and talented skipper. Simon, together with 'Kamara' have cruised from the North Kenya Banks to Dar es Salaam and between them have accounted for many great catches.
